Sportivate Programme 2015-2016

Information is now available on the next 2 years of the successful Sportivate Programme run by Sefton MBC.

Sefton Sportivate Programme – 2015- 2016

It has been confirmed in principle, that further funding will be received from Sport England, to run a further 2 years of the Sportivate programme.

I would like to take this opportunity to provide some guidance on this forthcoming Sportivate programme, which will be delivered in Sefton from 1st April 2015 – 31st March 2016.

The distribution of funds will be based around the evidence of need for the project and the quality of the application.

The Sportivate programme moving forward into Year 5 will focus on changing young people’s behaviour and will therefore move towards the irregularly active to the consistently active. This is in line with Sport England’s Active People indicator, 1 x 30mins of activity on a weekly basis.

Sport England has undertaken a significant amount of research during 2014 in to the challenge of growing youth participation on sport. The findings of this research have been collated into a ‘Youth Insight Pack’, that was released in August 2014 and is available on line: http://www.sportengland.org/media/359792/20140805-yr-insight-pack-fv.pdf.

Merseyside Sports Partnership  and Sport England are keen to see the information in the youth insights pack used to help develop and shape projects, so I strongly recommend that you read if before developing your project.

All plans need to be returned to myself no later than Wednesday 21st January 2015. PLEASE make sure you read through the guidance notes as they have changed from previous years.
